FOOTBALLER DIES ON PITCH

Mum’s tribute to son who collapsed as he celebrated goal

A TEENAGER collapsed and died as he celebrated scoring a goal in a summer football tournament.
Daniel Noel, 18, was playing in the Camden Unity Cup when he suddenly fell to the ground on The Warren pitches in Fitzrovia on Saturday afternoon.
Team-mates tried to help and paramedics rushed him to the University College London Hospital, but he died shortly afterwards.
Pathologists were yesterday (Wednesday) still trying to work out what caused his sudden death, although tests show he had a slightly enlarged heart.
As a shrine of tributes grew at the pitches, Daniel’s mother Velma told the New Journal: “He was fit. He was healthy. He didn’t smoke. He didn’t drink. I just think that it must have been his time to go.”
His team, the London Tigers, were among dozens playing in the first matches of the Unity Cup, an event celebrated for giving youngsters something to do over the summer holidays.

RIP. I play on the same pitch twice a week. It is sad to see that has happend to such a young talent at such a young age i was watching the unity cup on sunday and i can say he is definatley one of the players who stood out above the rest. Rest In Peace from the whole UCLH Team.
