First David, now Rebecca; which Tory bike is next?
HEART-BROKEN Conservative councillor Rebecca Hossack has become the latest Tory to have her bike stolen and is offering a £100 reward for its safe return. She locked her beloved vintage green sit-up-and-beg style bicycle to the railing outside her gallery in Conway Street, as usual, on Monday night – but by Tuesday morning, both bike and lock had disappeared.
The gallery owner is hoping she will be delivered the same good-fortune as her party leader, David Cameron, who was re-united with his bike after it was tracked down by a national newspaper.
The Bloomsbury councillor said: “People are joking about it because I’m the next high profile Conservative to have their bike stolen. It is quite funny, I suppose.”
But she added: “That bike was the love of my life. I took it everywhere with me.”
Cllr Hossack said she is trying think positively. She said: “At least we spent a magical last day together cycling along the Thames towards Richmond. On Sunday night I was saying what a pleasure cycling is and you know, it’s free, and then this happens. I’m really heartbroken.”
