The awful smell of charcoal
• BARBECUES are a danger to life, non-human animal and human as well as plant.
Those of us who treasure our green spaces do so because of the animals and plants, as well as the fresh air, and we would grieve over burnt brown areas and lack of bird song.
When I walk on the Heath and the awful smell of firelighters or charcoal assails me, I go and politely tell the group of young people (never families) of the dangers their thoughtless behaviour could cause.
Most have just failed to consider others, and agree to put out the fire.
Please continue to keep barbecues away from the Heath and public parks.
