Veteran receiver Marcin Lai leads the Blitz to glory.
london blitz book their place in britbowl xxii final
THE London Blitz American Football team booked their place in the Britbowl XXII final with a convincing 28-15 victory over the Farnham Fast Lane Knights on Sunday. The Knights, eager to make amends for the loss in the previous outing between the two teams, scored an early field goal to open up a 3-0 lead.
But the Blitz bounced back at the start of the second quarter when running back Gareth Dauley evaded the Knights tacklers before diving into the end zone to give the home side their first score.
Kicker Nathan Holt added the conversion to give the Finsbury Park-based club a 7-3 lead. The Knights found the end zone but missed their kick to retake a narrow two-point advantage.
But veteran receiver Marcin Lai did what he does best, catching Stuart Franklin’s pass and taking the ball into the end zone for the score. Holt again added the point to give the Blitz a 14-9 lead.
Talla N’Daiye added to Farnham miseries with a touchdown reception before Dauley scored his second rushing touchdown of the afternoon to seal the win.
