Pharmacy targeted by smash and grab gang riding scooters
A SCOOTER smash and grab gang struck in Belsize Village in the early hours of Tuesday morning, targeting a pharmacy. Three bikers, faces hidden by motorcycle helmets, used a brick to smash open the Village Pharmacy in Belsize Terrace at around 3am.
Neighbours woken by the disturbance called police, who arrived within minutes. The gang fled empty-handed.
Pharmacy owner Paul Barry said the thieves were looking for drugs, perfume or razor blades.
He said: “It’s relatively rare for a pharmacy to get robbed. This area is probably a soft target.”
Belsize Safer Neighbourhoods officer PC Paul Bonniface said: “They pulled down the shutters, broke the window, and made a complete mess of the shop. It is not clear whether anything was stolen.”
