The tumble dryer doesn’t help fight global warming
• ALL the tenants of the Regent’s Park estate have recently received a letter from Camden Council, telling us that we must remove our washing lines from the gardens.
Now this strikes me as blow for going green. In a day and age when we should all be cutting back on our carbon footprint, how does running a tumble dryer help this?
Not to mention the cost of electric nowadays, which makes running a tumble dryer almost prohibitive.
Drying clothes on a radiator is not always an option, especially in the summer.
They claim it is for health and safety reasons, but I am yet to hear of someone being killed from a washing line, I guess this rule has been made up by someone who wants to ruin Camden’s green credentials!
