Camden mayor Nurul Islam and Councillor Flick Rea offer a big send-off to St Pancras club manager CJ Hussein and the fighters who are set to compete in Denmark
It’s no Dane, no gain for boxers!
A TEAM of fighters from St Pancras Amateur Boxing Club will be quite literally going the distance at the end of the month when they travel to Denmark to take part in the Hancock Box Cup. Magnificent seven Mourad Boudjemaa, Alan Higgins, Richard MacAulay, Ricky Redhead, Joe Stevens, Charlie Worley and Charlie Webb will all fly out to the town of Skive for the tournament, which gets under way on October 31.
It will be the second time that the boxers have visited the Scandinavian country this year after the Saints team won four gold medals at the Haslev Box Cup in January.
Club manager CJ Hussein is confident that the fighters will all put in creditable displays.
He said: “It’s their first competition of the season so the boys are jumping in at the deep end. “But they’ve all been training really hard and have the capabilities to do really well. “This is a huge international competition so if any of our boys win a medal I’ll be delighted.”
