Yellow box entrapment of hapless motorists is illegal
• CAMDEN’S traffic division is entrapping motorists using a camera installed at the point where Highgate Road and Fortess Road join and become Kentish Town Road.
The sequence of lights has been changed in such a way that cars are being trapped on the yellow box and are photographed by the camera above.
The penalty for being caught on the yellow box is £60.
This is a classic case of entrapment which is illegal.
The people behind this disgraceful scheme should be disciplined severely and the practice of continuing to entrap motorists at the junction should be stopped immediately.
Camden Council is notorious for its disgraceful treatment of drivers.
At the moment a pilot scheme of introducing 20mph speed limit is being carried out in Gospel Oak where cameras have been installed to catch all “offenders”.
These cameras will soon be used to enforce fines.
Only somebody who has no understanding of how traffic flows, would introduce a permanent 20mph limit.
It should only be applied at times of the school run but not, for example, after 7pm and especially at night.
I hope that your fine paper will campaign for the 20mph speed limit in Camden to be restricted to certain hours of the day.
