Battle to be cracking champions
CONKER enthusiasts gathered at Hampstead Heath on Sunday for the seventh annual Hampstead Heath Conker Championships.
Both young and old went bonkers for conkers as they battled it out to become the
all-conquering champion.
Participants were separated into three age-groups and the winner of each category was rewarded with a trophy.
The competition was overseen by “conker meister” Debs Newbold, who shared her expertise with the eager competitors.
And her knowledge clearly rubbed off on Pam Millard, Jack Wilson, 11, and Alex Pogson, 7, who were crowned adult, 8-12 and 5 to 7-year-old champions respectively.
The Conker Championships were the finale to a family day out which had begun with an Autumn Stories Walk around some of the more picturesque areas of the Heath.
