Osborne clinches cup for Maritimo
President’s Cup CS Maritimo 2, Archway Allstars 0
CS MARITIMO picked the perfect time to win their first game of the season when they beat Archway Allstars on Sunday to lift the President’s Cup. Maritimo midfielders Alex Vasconcellos and Richard De Jesus forced the pace of the game as the Division Two champions quickly found their rhythm. The first real chance came midway through the first half when Andrew Oh put Mitchell Graham through on goal, only for the Maritimo striker to shoot narrowly wide.
The deadlock was broken with a scrappy goal as Maritimo were gifted the lead when a dangerous in-swinging corner was deflected into the net by an Archway defender for an own-goal.
Maritimo made the game safe early in the second-half when Matthew Osborne collected the ball near the halfway line and raced past two Archway players before coolly placing his shot under the keeper.
