Pool charity tourney raises £450
POOL players paid to play on Saturday when they gathered at the Murray Arms pub in Agar Grove for their annual charity match. Under the watchful eye of referee Stephen Moriarty, from the Chalk Farm Pool League, the pub’s Division One team clinched a hard-fought 5-4 victory over a team of talented challengers.
Boosted by raffle ticket sales and a special wishing well where people could deposit their loose change, the Murray raised £450 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Murray Arms slipped to third in the Chalk Farm League on Monday following their 5-4 defeat against the Gloucester Arms ‘A’ team.
The Unicorn remain top of the Division One table despite losing 5-4 against champions Boston Potters, while the Boston Rimmers are second after beating the Sir Robert Peel ‘A‘ team 5-4.
The only remaining top-flight fixture saw the Boston Boys bag the bragging rights with a 6-3 win over club-mates the Boston Arms.
