Anaconda continue big splash start
YOUNGSTERS from Anaconda Swimming Club continued their sensational start to the season on Sunday when they set eight more club records at Barnet Copthall. Triumphant trio Fred Cornwell, Dom McLoughlin and Leo Kirby rewrote the record books as they dominated their respective 200m events.
Cornwell, 10, led the way as he set three new top times on his way to winning gold in the freestyle, backstroke and the butterfly.
Club-mate Kirby, 16, was also celebrating when he entered the record books for the first time as he collected medals in the men’s open division backstroke and freestyle events.
The ever-impressive McLoughlin, 13, set two more club records with wins in both his backstroke and freestyle races.
Elsewhere Joe Grubb, Tommy Sitek and Clare Walton all reached top spot on the winner’s podium to give Anaconda a final haul of six gold medals, three silver and two bronze.
Meanwhile Jessie Baker, Andrew Bartha and Kathleen Bartha all captured new personal best times.
