Summer signing strikes in Gunners’ victory

Premier League
Arsenal 4, Leeds 0

LEAGUE leaders Arsenal maintained their perfect start to the season on Sunday with a comfortable 4-0 home win against Leeds.
Katie Chapman gave the Gunners a fifth-minute lead when she drove through the midfield and beat the keeper from just outside the box.
Arsenal doubled their advantage when summer signing Niamh Fahey scored her first goal for the club with a thunderous shot into the top corner.
Goals from Julie Fleeting and Yvonne Tracy completed the rout.

South-East Combination League

Lewes 4, Spurs 0

SPURS slipped to their seventh defeat of the season on Sunday when they were beaten 4-0 away at Lewes.
For the first 30 minutes Tottenham piled on the pressure and looked the more dominant side, but a mix up between the two centre-backs allowed Lewes to snatch an undeserved lead.
Lewes maintained their attacking approach and clinched the win with three unanswered goals in the second-half, leaving Spurs with just seven points from their opening 10 games.

Camden Town 0, Spurs Reserves 2

TWO goals in the last 10 minutes consigned Camden Town to their first defeat this season on Sunday at Regent’s Park.
Taking on an unbeaten Spurs side, Town looked to be heading for a share of the spoils until Katie Taylor struck in the 80th minute to give the visitors the lead.
Leading scorer Mary Guest (pictured) led the charge as Camden went in search of a deserved equaliser, but it was Spurs who again found the target when Shikiera Richards-Lake headed home from a corner to seal a 2-0 win.

Home Counties League

IT proved a mixed weekend for Hampstead in the Home Counties League.
In the Under-10s League, goals either side of half-time from Lois Joel and Kayleigh Brennan secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Denham United.
Hampstead’s under-13s side also picked up the points with a comfortable victory over Barnet. Hannah McWilliams and Isabelle Smedley scored two goals apiece, while Louise Bennet was also on target in a 5-0 win.
Hampstead’s under-15s were denied victory in a thrilling encounter against Northwood. Kirsty Graham scored a hat-trick and player-of-the-match Shauna Magner bagged a brace as Hampstead were narrowly beaten 6-5.
