Hammer attack on flats tiles
A HAMMER-swinging vandal has smashed up tiles in a stairwell on an estate in Holborn.
The tiles had only just been fitted at the four-storey Denys block on the Bourne estate in Portpool Lane.
A resident called police on Saturday morning after hearing the tiles being smashed and seeing a man running between blocks.
The tenant, who does not wish to be named, said: “Whoever it was must be a complete lunatic to do such a thing. He smashed up the tiles of the entire stairwell, from top to bottom. “It’s a shame as the refurbishment works had just been finished and this is such a beautiful old estate.”
Police searched the area without success.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call police on 02074041212 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
