Driving beat: Chauffeur turns singing fundraiser
MAYOR’s chauffeur Eric Lang has swapped gearstick for microphone to belt out country and western classics – all in the name of charity. He dazzled guests at the Boot pub in Cromer Street, King’s Cross – famed for featuring in Charles Dickens’ Barnaby Rudge – when he took to the stage for several hours to raise cash for Coram, the mayor’s charity for the year.
Mayor Nurul Islam applauded the fundraising effort but would not be drawn on whether he wanted Mr Lang to sing to him during journeys.
