Speedster Indigo leads the charge
SPEEDSTER Indigo Mathews was the star of the show at the weekend when youngsters from Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club competed in the 2008 100 Meet Championships at Barnet Copthall.
The talented nine-year-old gained a top-three finish in all five of her 100m events, winning gold in the individual medley, silver in both her backstroke and butterfly races and bronze in her freestyle and breaststroke competitions.
Team-mates Lucas Perry-Hill, 15, and Scott Broadis, 13, also put in top performances at the gala. Lucas won his breaststroke and backstroke events, before taking silver in the freestyle and bronze in the individual medley.
Not to be outdone, Scott won gold in his individual medley and breaststroke events, two silvers for his backstroke and freestyle and bronze in the butterfly.
Yohann Panthakee was also among the top marks, winning silver in the backstroke and the breaststroke and bronze in his individual medley.
Elsewhere Leo Jaggs won gold for his freestyle and silver in backstroke, while Joel Sands took silver in the breaststroke and broke the one-minute barrier on his way to claiming bronze in the freestyle.
Other medal winners were Jesse Mathews, Ben Hatch, William Rittenhouse, Vincent Neves, Clara Ahmed and Kelly Hookway. The Grossman sisters also reached the podium, with Cordelia winning two bronze in the freestyle and the breaststroke, and Camilla clinching silver in backstroke and freestyle.
Top performances were also obtained by Isabelle Matthews, Rebecca Peake, Sophie Rittenhouse, Tamir Gonen Cohen, Emily Jane O’Malley, Lisa Imas, Katie Lelinski and Roseanna Cruickshank-Hull. |
