Pool aces: Clare Walton and Dominic McLoughlin
Records tumble in National League
YOUNGSTERS from Anaconda Swimming Club continued to rewrite the record books at the weekend when they returned to the pool for their latest outing in the National League. Overall the speedsters set a further 14 club records and secured 20 personal best times as they dominated the Watford meet.
The first division team was in top form with Morgan Mockler and Dominic McLoughlin leading the way with outright wins in their backstroke, butterfly and freestyle events.
Competing in the 10-11 years age group, Freddie Cornwell became Anaconda’s fastest swimmer in the butterfly and the freestyle, while club-mate John Rivers set two new marks in his 100m freestyle and breaststroke competitions.
There were also outstanding swims by Jessie Baker, Joe and Ronnie Grubb and Kathleen Bartha, who all recorded personal best standards in their respective age-groups.
The records continued to fall in the Open age division. The premier pool performer was Clare Walton, who hit a time of 1.12.53 in the 100m backstroke to break the previous record, which was originally set back in 1985.
Four more standards were set in the relay events with coach Wayne Lock, Leo Kirby, Daniel Melville, Gabriel Cramer, Jodie Sees, Lauren Spiers and Harley Greer all joining the record ranks.
