Such taxing times for all those who lord it over us
• I READ with great interest the letter (Just a thinly-veiled tax, November 13) from the Tanza Road Association.
As we all know, these people live up on the hills of Hampstead, enjoying millionaire life-styles, while most of the rest of us normal people struggle to make ends meet (Gordon Brown Britain = poorer). As if it is not already hard enough for us to get by, we’re also forced to read patronising letters from these wealthy Hampstead people who are too mean to pay their fair share in council taxes.
And to top it off, they lord it over us, threatening not to renovate their homes.
Tanza Road, as we all know, borders the west side of Hampstead Heath.
What else do these fat cats want to do?
Put German-style checkpoints on the Savernake footbridge, to “control” use of the Heath?
It’s strange how taxation invariably is borne by the regular working people while the rich enjoy lives that are unimaginable to ourselves.
By the way, if Gabriele vom Bruck or anyone else on Tanza Road would like to trade residences, I’ve got a lovely Adelaide Road tower block flat with stunning views – of the railroad tracks.
