Find suitable space for hospital paintings
• IN the same issue as Sir Robert Naylor boasts that University College Hospital made a £100million profit from its property deals (Hospital plays property developer, November 13) we are reminded that the future of the Frederick Cayley Robinson paintings remains unresolved and that UCH has the right four years if no home is found for them; but the remedy is in UCH’s hands.
Our association has all along argued that because of the paintings’ historic connection with the hospital it is important that that link should be maintained and that they should be displayed in one of the proposed new buildings.
Sir Robert tells us of his ambitious plans for further hospital expansion including the new cancer centre.
We have previously urged that the paintings be incorporated in this development and the brief for the building include a requirement to include a suitable space for the display of the Cayley Robinsons.
For the hospital to pretend that the future of these paintings is dependent on others finding a home for them is quite unacceptable.
