Brush with kindness on Mitzvah Day
A PEER of the realm grabbed a broom and got mucking out on Sunday at the Kentish Town City Farm as part of a nationwide day of volunteering organised by the Jewish Community Centre in Hampstead. Known as a “Mitzvah Day” – a Hebrew term meaning an act of kindness – the scheme encouraged members of the Jewish community to give up some time to help others.
Baroness Neuberger was joined by Guardian columnist and author Jonathan Freedland and TV comic Dan Patterson of Mock the Week fame.
They grabbed brushes and gave the farmyard, in Cressfield Close, a thorough clean up.
