Musical director Gitika Partington with children from Christ Church School
On song: Get these children an agent!
AN arts scheme at a Hampstead primary – kick-started when a mystery benefactor donated thousands of pounds to the school – is still in healthy voice seven years later.
On Friday Christ Church School demonstrated just how vivacious that voice was when it hosted a whole school sing-a-long in the neighbouring church.
Teachers also got in on the act, singing Eva Cassidy’s hit Wade in the Water so well the borough’s musical head Peter West declared the group should get an agent.
Last year the same arts project, which has a different creative focus each term, saw 13 short films made by the youngsters premiered at the
nearby Everyman cinema.
Deputy head Mark Stubbings said: “We were given an anonymous
donation of £30,000 that saw us through the first few years and then the Friends of the school fundraised each year to keep it going.”
