Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 27 November 2008

King’s Cross consultation failed to deliver

• ALAN Patterson (Letters November 20), commenting on my Forum article calling for a more democratic King’s Cross development (Here’s a chance to launch a more democratic London, November 6), stresses the extensive consultation done by Argent and its head, Roger Madelin, in the formative years of the scheme.
He is right.
Both Argent and Camden Council did a great deal of consultation and I agree that most people feel they have been listened to.
The reason why so many of us are still unhappy about the outcome is that all this consultation has not led to a scheme which better meets the needs of low and middle-income people.
The political, as well as the financial, cards were stacked too heavily against these needs being met.
Michael Edwards
Joint chair, King’s Cross Railway Lands Group
