Harriers add titles to their country files
HIGHGATE Harriers won three titles in the London Cross-Country Championships at Parliament Hill Fields on Saturday. Highlighting the depth of talent within the club, both the senior men’s and women’s teams were victorious, along with the under-13s squad.
In the men’s race, David Bruce crossed the finishing line in just under 32 minutes to take fifth place, closely followed by Glenn Saqui, Tom Aldred and Ryan McKinlay. Their combined efforts earned Highgate a winning score of 51 points.
In the women’s event, the Harriers just edged out London Heathside.
Esther Evans came home in seventh place with a time of 21mins, 14secs, while Astrid Wingler, Alex Trafford and Rhian Hampson-Jones also all scored valuable points.
In the junior ranks Stanley Harrison finished third out of a field of 46 runners in the boys’ under-13s race. He was joined in the scoring positions by Williams Fitter and Eugene Potter to earn Highgate the overall team trophy.
