Arsenal boss should have sacked Gallas, says Geoffrey Gilbert
Arsenal boss should have sacked Gallas, says Geoffrey Gilbert
You’re in for a Blue Sunday, Gooners!

IT’S all set up nicely for Sunday’s clash between Chelsea and Arsenal.
The plucky underdogs, who always put on a show against the big boys, are hoping to put all the trauma of the last fortnight behind them by beating the might of London’s top team.
That’s right the Woolwich are coming to the King’s Road.
The booing of their supporters, the boohooing of their manager and the whopping great booby of an interview by their now ex-captain can all be put to rest at the Bridge.
I do not expect Arsenal to park their bus in their goal, so at least there should be some goals.
Who can blame William Gallas for speaking out against the big match fancy Dans that infect the Emirates dressing room and now, it seems, the stands.
The funny thing is the Holloway Globe Trotters will probably put on a good show this weekend but, as even Wenger must now be realising, being able to put on an exhibition match performance every couple of months against the real contenders wins you nothing.
Not since Patrick Vieira left have les Gonneurs held any real fear for the opposition.  Chelsea may be struggling to win at home thanks to impressive defensive displays from the likes of Burnley, Newcastle and the mandatory luck of Liverpool, but does Scolari whine on about injuries, referees or the other team’s tactics being effective? No, he states we must learn to unlock these defences. Wouldn’t it be refreshing if Wenger would admit the other side deserved their win.
Are we going to have to endure Richard and Pip Wroe’s mid-table mumblings for the rest of the season? Can’t we start having contributions from supporters of teams in the hunt? You know; Chelsea (obviously), Hull City (God bless ’em) and Villa. In times like these we need to be uplifted and carefree, not whined and bleated at, especially as Roman allegedly lost £27trillion (in Richard money) on pork bellies this month.

Wenger bottled sacking Gallas

AS an Arsenal supporter of more than 70 years, I am disappointed at the lack of bottle Arsene Wenger has shown with his handling of the William Gallas saga.
Gallas should have been sacked after his antics at Birmingham last season. Now it appears he can break the golden rule (which applies in all sports) that what goes on in the dressing room, stays in the dressing room.
I think that Gallas’s outrageous behaviour is a disgrace.
