Outrage at attack on pregnant woman

A HEAVILY pregnant woman who was mugged outside her Belsize Park home had to be rushed to hospital to have her baby induced.
In a lunchtime attack that has been described as “cowardly” by police and shocked neighbours, Anastasia Bloom, 34, in the 41st week of her pregnancy, was attacked by two men on bicycles outside her Adamson Road home on Thursday.
The muggers made off with a diamond broach but without one of the bikes, which was caught under her body.
Mother and baby, named Elizabeth, are both doing well after the overnight birth at the Portland Hospital, where Ms Bloom was rushed by police.
Mrs Bloom’s husband Daniel, 30, told reporters: “Whoever did this is someone who had absolutely no emotion or respect for anybody. A pregnant women is like an old lady in some respects. How could they do it? It was extremely cowardly.”
Witness Anthony Renaud, who saw two hooded suspects speed off down Eton Avenue on a push bike, described the attack as disgusting”.
Detective Constable Nathalie Wood said: “This was a very nasty and cowardly attack on a vulnerable woman who was in the final stages of her pregnancy.
“I am currently investigating all lines of enquiry.”
