Spurs sneak into Carling semi-finals
Carling Cup
Watford 1, Spurs 2
SPURS booked their place in the Carling Cup semi-finals for the third successive season last night (Wednesday) after sneaking past Watford with a 2-1 victory at Vicarage Road. With the cup offering a route into Europe, it’s an important result for boss Harry Redknapp.
Spurs fell behind after just 13 minutes when Tamas Priskin gave the Championship strugglers a shock lead with a shot on the turn.
Spurs created a host of chances before Roman Pavlyuchenko finally brought the scores level from the penalty spot in first-half injury time after Ross Jenkins fouled Jermaine Jenas.
Substitute Darren Bent came off the bench to grab the winner, drilling the ball past Hornets’ keeper Scott Loach to earn the cup holders a place in the final four.
