Kwame Kwei-Armah
Star alumni to celebrate WAC

R&B divas Estelle, Ms Dynamite and Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child) are expected to join the award-winning playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah for the anniversary celebrations of the lauded Belsize Park arts college, WAC.
Stars of the stage and screen will pack the Interchange Studios in Hampstead Town Hall for the glittering 30th birthday bash this Sunday.
The college, which enjoys high-profile support from dozens of leading showbiz names, recently announced Mr Kwei-Armah, author of Let There Be Love, as their first-ever patron.
An estimated 30,000 students have passed through the doors of WAC since it opened. Singer Ms Dynamite and actors Danny Sapani and Julian Joseph are all alumni.
Celia Greenwood, the founder of WAC, said she was “absolutely thrilled” at the appointment.
“It’s not enough just to put somebody famous on your headed notepaper. Kwame stands for a positive outlook on life and a very serious work ethic. He’s a great artist who’s supported our work for some years.”
Tickets for the event this Sunday are now sold out, but there are still tickets available for the performance by WAC students on Saturday at 6.30pm. For more details, call the box office: 020 7692 5838.
