Practice in good health
• THE NHS’s James Wigg Practice is this week in the process of being reborn.
Two years ago it temporarily upped sticks and relocated to St Pancras Way, vacating its 1960s Bartholomew Road site. This was while the new facility has been being built on the same site’s footprint on my street, though it is now much larger internally.
The new Kentish Town Health Centre will open its doors in the middle of next week and, as they say, it will have much much more, including dentistry, paediatrics, a facility for minor surgical procedures, coffee shop and community meeting outreach activities.
The 10-year, £12million project has been the brainchild of
Dr Roy Macgregor and I take my hat off to him.
It’s a crowning achievement, an exemplar, and a facility of which we can and will be proud for years to come. And it’s in stark contrast to what UnitedHealth have been doing to our local practice in Camden Road.
