The New Journal’s Sarah Starkins (left) hands over her prize winnings to Caroline Maloney
Cheers Sarah! That’s another £400 for the pot...
IT’S not just New Journal readers who part with their hard-earned cash for our Christmas Hamper appeal each year.
Sarah Starkins, the newspaper’s head of production, won the £400 first prize at the annual Christmas quiz night in the Oxford Arms pub on Monday – and then donated her raffle
winnings straight back into the pot.
Each year the popular pub in Camden High Street, Camden Town, raises hundreds of pounds for our Hamper Appeal.
Ten teams – including two from the New Journal – were tested on sports, music and films in a five-round general knowledge, brain-buster with questions from quizmaster Geordie Bassell.
The New Journal, always well-informed, scooped first prize in a night of fun which raised a massive £1,189 for our appeal.
Manager Caroline Maloney said: “It’s been a great night.
“Thanks to everyone who came along and see you next year.”
