Jessica’s seven
in super splash
SWIM star Jessica Hobbs was among the medal winners at the weekend as youngsters from Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club made a splash at the Cambridge Short Course Championships.
The triumphant 14-year-old placed no fewer than seven times on the winners’ podium, clinching a gold, four silvers and two bronze medals. Hobbs put in a commanding display to win her 100m butterfly, hitting home in 1:11.19.
Overall the Camden contingent won 25 golds, 23 silvers and 21 bronze during the weekend meet.
Performing with style and success, Leo Jaggs, 14, stole the show with a series of stunning swims on his way to capturing six gold medals. Team-mate Alexander Burgess, 13, also swam for six medals, winning two golds, three silvers and a bronze.
Lucas Perry-Hill, 15, added six more awards to the medal count with two silvers and four bronze medals. The highlight for the speedy 15-year-old came in the 200m individual medley, lowering his personal best time by over two seconds to hit home 2:25.12.
Showing a great strength in depth, the Camden coaches had plenty to celebrate with William Rittenhouse, 12, winning the 100m fly, 200m and 400m freestyle and the 400m individual medley. The talented 12-year-old also collected two silver medals.
Robin Neumann, 11, won gold in the 50m and 400m freestyle, and the 200m backstroke, while Kelly Hookway took first place in the 100m backstroke and the 400m individual medley.
Another show-stopper was Tamir Gonon-Cohen, 11, who placed five times to return home with a gold, two silvers and two bronze medals.
The outstanding performance also saw Eugene Potter, Dania Gnevko, Billy Bradley, Scott Broadis, Vincent Neves, Ilya Skliarov, Hok Iao Wong, Pok Iao Wong, Tamsin McKinnon, Indigo Matthews, Sophie Rittenhouse, Naiomi Wakeham-Aredes, Camilla Grossman, Reut Benaim, Sarah Taylor-Reid and Roseanna Cruickshank all win medals. |
