South Camden Community School and La Sainte Union, joint winners of the Under-16s mixed trophy
Young history-makers!
WHIZZ kids from William Ellis sealed a place in the history books on Thursday when they became one of three schools to win the first ever Federation Indoor Rowing Championships.
The Highgate Road-based secondary school saw off competition from hosts South Camden Community School and Acland Burghley to win the boys’ 11 to 14 years age category.
Each school picked a team of 10 pupils, who raced against each other over one-and-a-half-minute laps on the Concept Two rowing machine, with sides being awarded points based on the distance they covered.
William Ellis were joined on the winners’ podium by Camden School for Girls, who were crowned champions of the girls’ 11 to 14 years age group.
Meanwhile La Sainte Union and South Camden Community School, who both competed with teams of just five rowers, shared the honours in the mixed 14 to 16 years age
category.
