Golden boy Yohann in record style
GOLDEN boy Yohann Panthakee was among the perfect pool performers at the weekend when Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club scooped a lofty 27 medals in their latest sprint meet, which was held at Barnet Copthall. The triumphant nine-year-old shaved more than five seconds off his personal best time in the 50m butterfly as he raced home in 42.27secs to clinch gold. Yohann also won the 50m backstroke with a time of 42.10, before capturing a silver medal in the 100m individual medley and a bronze in the 50m breaststroke.
Overall the Camden Swiss Cottage contingent won 11 gold’s, six silvers and 10 bronze medals.
Olivia Willis, 11, won triple gold after securing top spot in the 50m breaststroke, the 50m freestyle and the 100m individual medley. Team-mate Sophie Panteli, 12, was also in commanding form as she won her 50m breaststroke and freestyle events, before claiming a silver medal in the 100m individual medley.
Other swimmers to place in more than one event were Nathaniel Wade, who won gold in his age-group 50m backstroke and silver in the 50m breaststroke, Victor Amara, who collected silver in the 50m freestyle and bronze in the 100m individual medley, and James Slade, who captured gold in his 100m individual medley and bronze in the 50m butterfly.
Meanwhile Jake Slade and Elisabeth Vann both won individual golds in their respective 50m breaststroke events.
