MacAulay calls the shots in Dublin
HEAVYWEIGHT Richard MacAulay swapped his club colours for a university vest on Thursday when he travelled to Dublin to take on Ireland’s Kevin Myler. MacAulay, who is studying a for a PhD in human biology at Cambridge, showed instinctive shot selection as he put in a commanding display over three, three-minute rounds.
The St Pancras boxer edged a close opening round before using his hight and reach advantage to maximum effect in the second with a series of telling body shots.
In the third and final round, MacAulay came within one heavy shot of stopping Myler, a highly regarded boxer from Bray Boxing Club.
At the sound of the final bell, it was St Pancras trainer Ray Ball who was celebrating as MacAulay gained a majority decision from the judges.
