Tigers snap up starlet
STAR striker Solomon Arouna hit the headlines this week when he became the 200th player to graduate from the Hampstead Academy.
The speedy seven-year-old, who lives in Islington, is preparing to terrorise defences in the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League after being snapped up by Hampstead’s Under-8s Tigers side. Director of football Mike Powell said: “Solomon is a natural footballer and joined our academy in November and was spotted by our team managers. “He has the right attitude and a positive outlook on life and superb natural football skills. We have no doubt he will become a future star at Hampstead Football Club.”
Solomon’s signing is the latest stroke of success for the academy, which is based at Haverstock School in Chalk Farm.
In October Hampstead unveiled a three-year target to get 1001 youngsters playing football for the club before the start of the 2011 season.
