Not art, but perversion
• I READ your story about the live peacocks in an “installation” being shown at the Camden Arts Centre (La cage aux fowl: Is it art, paltry entertainment or just animal cruelty? February 19)
This is an archaic mentality manifesting itself in the 21st century. It defies the true meaning of “ duty of care” within the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and the five principles of “The Five Freedoms” for captive animals.
This is certainly not art, but a twisted, perverted expression of the human mind. In plain and simple terms, the holding of peacocks and any type of animal in an exhibition enclosure far removed from their natural habitation is cruel and is inexcusably defended by sick-minded perpetrators looking for an animated subject to exploit. The RSPCA should take action to remove the peacocks and not leave it to concerned people to do their job for them.
