Peel teams shine in Liam Tarrant Cup
THERE was a break in the Chalk Farm Pool League this week as teams turned their attentions to the quarter-finals of the Liam Tarrant Knockout Cup.
Players from the Sir Robert Peel were the biggest winners as both the club’s ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams booked their place in the final four.
Playing the first to five frames, the Peel ‘A’ squad showed tremendous battling spirit to beat Boston Arms 5-3. Not to be outdone, their ‘B’ team counterparts also progressed after overcoming the Boston Rimmers 5-4 in a thriller.
Peel will be joined in the semi-finals by Swiss Guard and Boston Boys, who both won their respective matches against Prince of Wales Dynamos and Gloucester Arms 5-1.
Benefit for Shane
PLAYERS and officials from the Chalk Farm Pool League will gather for a special benefit match on Sunday for Shane Stanfield, who was tragically killed in a motoring accident in October.
Shane was a much-loved member of the Chalk Farm League and captained the Gloucester Arms ‘A’ team. The benefit will be held at the Boston Arms pub in Tufnell Park on Sunday. Tickets will be available on the door at £3 each. All proceeds will be going to Shane’s wife Kelly and his two sons, Connor and Ronnie.
