Gilting the lily: Budding gardeners’ scoop prestigious award at horticultures show
ONE day, all gardens in Camden could be made this way.
The Urban Front garden, designed by eight graduates from Capel Manor College in Regent’s Park, won the prestigious Silver Gilt medal at a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) award show last week.
Featuring anemones, bergenias and other rare and unusual flora, the “Stepping Lightly” garden was specially created for the RHS London Plant and Design show in Victoria.
Although the students had never built a show garden before, their entry scooped
second prize.
Head of college Madeline Hall said: “This is the first year the RHS have included show gardens at the event and with the judging to the same
standard as for the Chelsea Flower Show, the Silver Gilt medal is a brilliant achievement for the design team and for the college.”
