Cricketing thriller: Heartbreak as girls are edged out in final – on run-rate
YOUNGSTERS from Camden School for Girls were bowled over when they just missed out on becoming Middlesex indoor cricket champions after being narrowly edged out in the final. The under-13s side (pictured) stormed into the grand finals after winning the
Inner-London competition, which was held at Lord’s in January.
Captained by Ella Gibbons, the girls more than held their own in the Inner Versus Outer London Borough Championships, which were held at the Kensington Leisure Centre.
But after a series of thrilling matches, Camden agonisingly missed out on the winners’ trophy when they were beaten to the title by St Paul’s, who finished the tournament with a slightly higher run-rate.
Islington Arts and Media School also performed well after reaching the finals, securing fifth place.
