Many lose out because of Christian church schools
• I HAVE only moved fairly recently to Belsize/Swiss Cottage with my family and, for the most part, enjoy it a lot.
However, as the father of three Muslim children under the age of four, I am very concerned about their primary schooling. I expect my Jewish neighbours feel the same.
The two nearest primary schools are both Church of England faith schools.
Primrose Hill School is non-denominational but only has two form entries per year and, in any event, we may be too far away.
That will certainly be true of any other primary schools in Camden and I am told Westminster strongly favours its own residents.
It is an anomaly that there is no primary school in Belsize, which is home to many young families. It is made worse by the fact that so many of the local schools are Christian church schools, when a large proportion of the population are not Christians.
We badly need a new school here as soon as possible and I am very pleased that Tom Simon and the Liberal Democrats are making it a central policy priority in the upcoming by-election.
