On a flyer: Rob Craigs eludes the Tabard defence as team-mate Quintas Van Bosch shadows the run
Penalty ace Mold fires Hampstead title hopes
London Three North West
Hampstead 35, Tabard 8
HAMPSTEAD kept their slim title hopes alive on Saturday with a resounding victory over Tabard. Chasing their fourth successive win, the home side made a bright start and edged in front when Dave Mold converted an early penalty.
A frantic few minutes saw Mike Worters sin-binned as Tabard levelled the scores with a successful kick of their own.
Hampstead rallied and got their first try of the afternoon when Rob Craigs scored in the corner, before Mold successfully converted from the touchline.
Mold had more than found his range and he increased the advantage with two more successful penalties to give Hampstead a 16-3 lead at the break.
Hampstead continued to dominate in the second-half with Dave Gornall adding the finishing touches to a flowing passage of play to score a try, which Mold again converted.
Craigs then scored his second try of the afternoon, giving Mold another conversion.
Winger Kenny Loakman also rounded off another great move to take Hampstead to an impressive 35-8 victory.
The result leaves Hampstead four points behind leaders Harpenden with three games to go.
