What of the Town Green?
• A FEW months ago, I attended a consultation session about the creation of the Talacre Town Green.
There were four such sessions and, as I understand, they all called for the immediate creation of the Town Green with the total rejection of the council’s crazy idea of a trust or a laissez-faire policy.
We were told that a copy of the final consultation would be available at the end of February and that we would be able to obtain copies of the report in the interest of open government. These promises were made by a employee of the “independent” firm completing the consultation.
After £25,000 spent by the council for this consultation, we presently have nothing; no report, no decision, no progress and no openness.
A little bird informed me the other day, however, that a report had been sent to the council and that they rejected it and spent it back to be “rewritten”. If this is true, where can I get a copy of the original report? If this is true, when will the new report and a decision be made? If this is true, what happened to the “independence” of the consulting firm and the “openness” of the present council. Looking at the council decision-making processes, the citizens of Camden continue to be left out of the loop.
