‘Help us brighten gardens’ appeal
ORGANISERS of the Castlehaven Project – the initiative which encourages young people to help their community in return for tickets to Camden Crawl music festival – are calling on the public to donate unwanted gardening goods.
Project team Envision has asked for any items that could help teenagers brighten up gardens in Camden Town.
The New Journal has joined forces with the youth charity.
In return for their hard work, young people will win tickets to see some of their biggest musical heroes at an under-age show at the annual Camden Town music festival later this month.
Acts will include the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Maccabees, although every Crawl has unannounced special guests.
The gardens being spruced up are at St Michael’s Church in Camden Road – scene of the under-age gig – and those at the Castlehaven Community Centre in Castlehaven Road.
Organisers are particularly keen on receiving items that will help with building bird boxes, insect hotels and bee houses.
Other items on their wish list are gardening gloves, plants, seeds, pots, wood planks and bamboo canes.
