Toffees end historic run
Women’s Football Round-up FA Premier League
Arsenal 0, Everton 3
THE longest unbeaten run in the history of the Women’s Premier League came to an end on Sunday when Arsenal Ladies were beaten by Everton. The Gunners have been crowned champions for the last five successive seasons, during which time they recorded a run of 108 league games without tasting defeat.
On Sunday Arsenal got off to the worst possible start when goals from Fara Williams and Michelle Hinnigan fired the Toffees 2-0 ahead within the opening 13 minutes.
The Gunners never really got going and were condemned to a resounding 3-0 defeat eight minutes into the second-half when Jill Scott scored to complete the rout.
Everton are now threatening to end Arsenal’s dominance of the English game by taking the Premier League title.
The Blues are currently trailing the reigning champions by six-points, but have three games in hand.
SE Combination League Spurs 0, Luton Town 9
SPURS Ladies crashed to their biggest defeat of the season on Sunday when they were thumped by title-chasing Luton. The north Londoners, who are just three points off the bottom of the table, will avoid the drop by default after the two relegation spots were filled by Bedford Town and Whitehawk, who have both withdrawn from the league for financial reasons.
