Store detective: Trainee cop tells of robbery chase
A TRAINEE transport police officer has revealed how he arrested a man suspected of involvement in a bungled robbery.
PC Pete Giles was in Camden Town last Tuesday as part of his eight-month training as a British Transport Police officer when raiders attempted to rob a security van driver delivering cash to machines outside Sainsbury’s in Camden Road.
PC Giles chased a man into a shop in Camden High Street while his trainer, Pravin Kerai, and another transport police officer, PC Craig Howat, sealed off the store.
He added: “It’s real adrenalin. It’s part of the reason why I’m training for the job.”
Two men appeared in court on Thursday charged with robbery.
