Hospital for drugs unit
• JOHN Hartley’s important contribution to the debate about the drugs centre (Lessons in locating a drug centre, Letters April 9) stresses the importance of its location.
The right place should be in the precincts or grounds of a hospital, giving the right public message that drugs are a health problem.
This would safeguard the interests of frightened residents and those of users who may need immediate access to hospital services.
The area around St Pancras Hospital and that of the old disused National Temperance Hospital in Hampstead Road suggest possible sites.
