Hospital school is praised
A SCHOOL for severely ill children in Great Ormond Street Hospital has been rated as “outstanding” in all departments.
The glowing Ofsted report said the Children’s Hospital School gave long-stay patients an “excellent education” in a “stimulating, caring, supportive and positive environment”.
The school teaches dozens of children with severe medical or psycho logical conditions aged between five and 18.
Headteacher Yvonne Hill said: “The governors and staff of the school are delighted with this outcome, which can only be due to a total team effort.”
Parents had told the inspectors that the school helped the children through their troubles. One mother said: “My child has confidence to confide in his teachers – something he has not done before”.
Camden Council’s schools chief Councillor Andrew Mennear said: “This is a tremendous achievement by everyone at the school.” |
