Champions League stars!
TEAMS flocked to the Winchester Project in Swiss Cottage on Wednesday for the grand finals of the Champions League. Home advantage proved a telling factor for the Winchtonians, who won two of the four major trophies up for grabs.
Representing Spanish giants Real Madrid, the Winch girls’ team lifted the under-14s title after beating Islington Girls, who were playing as Arsenal. Blaze Brown and Senette Wallace were both on target in a 2-0 win.
The under-14s age-group proved a strong category for the host club with the Winchtonians boys’ team also winning their competition. Playing as Chelsea, they needed extra-time to seal a 2-1 win over Venue, who were Italian side AC Milan.
Elsewhere Somers Town Futures led Real Madrid to the boys’ under-12s title with a narrow 1-0 win over Peel, who were playing as Turkish side Fenerbahçe.
The biggest win of the tournament came in the boys’ under-16s final were Copenhagen Youth Project, representing Barcelona, ran out 3-0 winners against OK Club, who were playing as Manchester United.
