Mystery brain swelling killed trainee teacher
A TRAINEE teacher died after her brain mysteriously swelled up, causing her to act “bizarrely”.
Reema Taylor, 33, who lived near Mornington Crescent with her husband and five-year-old daughter, died at University College London Hospital in January after behaving strangely for several weeks, a St Pancras inquest heard on Tuesday.
Her husband Darren said he took his wife to hospital a day before her death after she began to act erratically. She would leave the house without explanation and started developing feelings of paranoia about family and colleagues. Experts initially put her behaviour down to stress.
Coroner Dr Andrew Reid said: “There is no evidence of a neuropathological cause that can explain the symptoms in this case. The cause of death was brain swelling. She clearly did have a genuine psychotic disturbance but we haven’t found an organic cause.”
Verdict: death from natural causes. |
