Heath patrols are stepped up after a spate of robberies
A SERIES of robberies on the fringes of Hampstead Heath has prompted police to send in extra patrols.
Two women and two teenage boys were attacked between Wednesday and
Friday last week, but detectives do not believe the incidents are linked.
A 22-year-old woman was robbed of her handbag in Mansfield Road, Gospel Oak, by a man she saw coming out of the Heath in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
A 44-year-old woman was robbed by a group of three men at 2.20pm as she walked in North End Way, opposite Jack Straw’s Castle, on Thursday. The muggers forced her to the ground by the throat before escaping in a BMW, according to police.
Then at 6.20pm on Friday, two 15-year-old boys were surrounded by a group of eight teenage boys near Highgate Ponds. One of the gang produced a knife.
Detective Sergeant Ben Kennedy said: “We are investigating several robberies in the vicinity of Hampstead Heath during the past week and remind people to be vigilant. Patrols are being tasked to the area and Safer Neighbourhoods officers are aware of these incidents. We will continue to work closely with the Hampstead Heath Constabulary and are appealing for witnesses.” |

YOUR COMMENTS:
Hampstead heath was quite nice when I was a kid. Now I dont go there any more;its seems to be another victory for the scum that infest Camden and its surrounds. |
