Mini runners small wonders!
THE borough’s top young athletes pounded the capital’s streets on Sunday as they turned out in force for the London Mini-Marathon.
The Camden contingent ran the muscle-aching final three miles of the main course, starting at Old Billingsgate and finishing in The Mall.
Raymond Vangiladio was the only boy from the borough to gain a top-50 ranking after finishing in 17th place in the boys’ 13 to 14 age group. The talented runner knocked more than a minute off of his time from last year’s race to hit home in 17.25 mins.
Team-mates Tayo Awoderu, Josh Kenway, Daniel White, Eugene Potter and Renat Hammet-Millay all finished well within the 19-minute mark to help the Camden team finish fifth overall in the age category.
Camden’s fastest joint-result of the day came in the boys’ 15 to 17 age group where William Laing and Max Coventry both crossed the finishing line in 17.17 to take 63rd and 64th place respectively.
William’s younger brother George also ran well to clock a time of 17.31 and take 74th place. Max Hayhurst, Jake Levi and Misha Newman completed the line-up as Camden took 15th spot overall.
In the boys’ 11 to 12 age group, Peter Laing completed the three miles in just over 20 minutes to take 71st place.
Within two minutes Gabriel Springer, Conrad Litchfield, Jimi Brock, Sajed Ammari and Henry Wheatley had all finished the circuit to earn 23rd place in the team rankings.
Meanwhile, in the girls’ competition, three of Camden’s starlets made the top 50.
Hannah Viner and Lily Baldwin recorded times of 21.38 and 22.21 to take 38th and 46th place respectively in the 11 to 12 age category. Tallulah Taylor, Helena Roberts, Lulu Szego and Ellie Doolan completed the scoring six runners to help Camden claim 12th place overall. The borough’s fastest girl was Amy-Jane Cotter. The veteran Mini-Marathon runner took 46th place in the girls’ 15 to 17 age group with a time of 20.48. Chasing team-mates Laura Graham, Lottie Sorbie, Hannah Ashman, Georgia Doolan and Rebecca Tyrwhitt-Drake all crossed the finishing line as Camden took 19th place overall in the team standings.
Rebecca Graham led the girls’ 13 to 14 team home with a time of 21.51. Theodora Prosser, Isabel Barnes, Jessica Marais, Francesca Simpson and Sarah Mansfield also all put in creditable runs to help the team take 17th place overall. |
